My Name is Ms. Suvekcha Tamang. I am a Ph.D. Scholar from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, my doctoral research focuses on “Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace in Sikkim: A Human Rights Perspective (2000-2015).” I have completed my M.Phil. in International Relations from Jadavpur University itself and my dissertation focused on “Geo- Strategic Impulses of Darjeeling: Its Significant Niche in Indian Foreign Policy.” My educational journey began with a Bachelors (B.A) in Political Science with International Studies from Jadavpur University followed by a Masters (M.A) in Political Science with International Studies from the same university.
My research area of interest includes- Gender Studies, Women Empowerment, Indian Foreign Policy, and Strategic Studies. I have published a paper in a Journal on Contemporary Issues of Law [JCIL] Vol.5 Issue 8 [August 2019], on the topic “Implementation of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013 In Sikkim”, ISSN 2455-4782. I have also worked as a Project Officer in a Non- Government Organization named, Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA), New Delhi. I have participated in an International Seminar on South-East Asia in the Emerging Global Order- Challenges and Opportunities under UGC-CAS-I on February 16-18, 2013 organized by the Department of International Relations, Jadavpur University, Kolkata. I have also participated in a UGC-sponsored webinar on Digital Governance on August 30, 2022 organized by Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. I have conducted various workshops and trainings with government and non-government organizations on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace and Violence against Women and Girls in Sikkim, Kalimpong, and Jalpaiguri.
