Special Empirical Research on Working Conditions of the Domestic Worker in the Rural & Urban Areas in Siliguri: A Comparative Analysis

The Students of Semester-IV of 3-year LL.B. program namely, Riya Roy Choudhury, Suprodip Majumdar, Rajni Sha, Nipa Paul, Bipti Adhikari and Puja Sarkar have conducted a special empirical research project under the guidance of Ms. Tridipa Sehanobis Das, Assistant Professor of Law on the topic titled as "Working Conditions of the Domestic Worker in the Rural & Urban Areas in Siliguri: A Comparative Analysis".

The students have undertaken an in-depth analysis of the distinct challenges faced by these workers. They have visited the Shramik Bhaban, Labour Department, Government of West Bengal, different agencies providing domestic workers in Siliguri and also interacted with several domestic workers in Siliguri (including Matigara & Phasidewa) to gather extensive information for the research. Further they endeavoured to identify potential solutions to protect the rights of the domestic workers paving way for better working conditions.
