On May 23, 2023, a significant school visit took place at St. Xavier's High School as part of a legal aid and awareness program. The event aimed to educate and empower students on two crucial topics: Cyber Trafficking and Right to Information. The program was organized and executed by a group of dedicated legal aid volunteers.
The primary focus of the event was to raise awareness about the growing issue of cyber trafficking. The volunteers delivered informative presentations, highlighting the various forms and consequences of cyber trafficking. They discussed how individuals, especially young people, can become victims of online exploitation and the methods employed by perpetrators. The volunteers emphasized the importance of online safety, including strategies to protect personal information, detect and report suspicious activities, and seek help when needed. Interactive sessions were conducted, allowing students to share their experiences and concerns regarding cyber trafficking.
The second topic covered during the program was the Right to Information. The volunteers explained the significance of this fundamental right in a democratic society, emphasizing its role in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance. They discussed the procedure to access information through the Right to Information Act and shared examples of how citizens can utilize this tool to address various issues in their communities. The students were encouraged to actively exercise their right to information and become responsible citizens by holding authorities accountable.
Throughout the school visit, the legal aid volunteers engaged the students through interactive activities, discussions, and question-and-answer sessions. The students enthusiastically participated and displayed a genuine interest in the topics presented. The volunteers also distributed informational materials, pamphlets, and resources to further enhance the students' understanding and provide them with valuable references for future use.
By the end of the program, the school visit had successfully achieved its objectives of raising awareness about cyber trafficking and promoting the Right to Information among the students of St. Xavier's High School. The event equipped the students with crucial knowledge and tools to safeguard themselves against online exploitation and empowered them to exercise their rights effectively. The legal aid volunteers left a lasting impact on the students, inspiring them to be proactive in addressing social issues and contributing to a just and informed society.
