On 24th April 2023, the Legal Aid Committee of Indian Institute of Legal Studies conducted a legal awareness session at Kalimpong Girls Higher Secondary School for the students of Class XI and XII. The session was aimed at educating the students about the growing concerns of Cyber Trafficking, Right to Privacy, and POCSO. The discussion’s main objectives were to inform the students about POCSO Act, the Right to Privacy, and Cyber Trafficking. The committee addressed for the different laws that are in place to stop cybercrime and the fundamental right to privacy. They also emphasized the significance of the POCSO Act, which addresses crimes involving sexual abuse on children. The session was beneficial and engaging as to a career counseling session was also provided to the students and a time for question-and-answer sessions offered the students a chance to get their questions answered. Overall, the session was successful in strengthening young students’ understanding of legal issues, and the students were delighted of the efforts made by the Legal Aid Committee in accomplishing so.
