Indian Institute of Legal Studies is rapidly making its steps towards its aim, which is mainly focusing in taking initiative to provide free and competent legal service to the youth of the country as well. Therefore, the institution has collaborated with the District Legal Services Authority, Darjeeling on 27.11.2022, in presence of Chief Guest of Honour- Surjoy Kumar Sarkar, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Darjeeling, Srijon Deb, General Manager, Badamtam T.E., Jayanti Dewan, Panel Advocate, DLSA, Darjeeling, and Junita Pradhan, P.L.V, DLSA, Darjeeling, in order to conduct the program in Badamtam T.E, Darjeeling to spread more legal knowledge and assistance to the society in broader aspect by targeting the tea workers of the residents of Badamtam T.E. The dignitaries covered the Plantation Labor Act, 1951 and Right to Maintenance under Section 125 of Cr.P.C. Beside there were also speech given about the bank fraudulent activities and various pension schemes introduced by the Government of India. Upon conducting the interactive session, it was also discovered that amongst the tea workers of the residing area, there were several individuals whose pensions were stuck; some of them had issues related to old age pension and widow pension. The approach of our Chief Guest of Honor regarding these issues was very supportive and co-operative. It was a successful session.
