6th Youth Parliament, 2021 organised by Indian Institute of Legal Studies

The Indian Institute of Legal Studies, Siliguri have successfully organised its 6th Youth Parliament, 2021 on 25-26 Novemver, 2021, on the agenda ‘The farmers Bill 2020: Its implications in protecting the rights of farmers in India’ and ‘the need of legislation to regulate mental health with special reference to the online education system’. The participants were students from different institutions from the entire North Bengal region including the hills and Kolkata. The competition was judged by Shri Basant Sharma, Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, Jalpaiguri, Shri Shakti Sharma, Asst. Professor of Political science, Birsa Munda college, Shri Tanwir arshed, Asst. Professor of Political Science, Presidency University, Kolkata and the Faculty members of the  Indian Institute of Legal Studies, Siliguri. Both the sessions were extremely interactive and the students have submitted high standard of arguments to present their contentions before the house.

The Valedictory Session of the event was presided by Shri Joyjit Choudhury, Hon’ble Founder Chairman, Indian Institute of Legal Studies, Siliguri and also graced by Prof. (Dr.) Manas Chakraborty, UGC honoured Emeritus Professor of Political Science, University of North Bengal, Special Guest of Honour, in the presence of Dr. Dilip Kumar Sarkar, Director, Indian Institute of Legal Studies and Prof. (Dr.) Ganesh Ji Tiwari, Principal, Indian Institute of Legal Studies.

Awards were declared for the participants following the Valedictory session. Mr. Siddhant Agarwal from Don Bosco School, Siliguri was adjudged as the Best Parliamentarian, with a cash prize of Rs. 5,000/-, trophy and certificate, Mr. Anubhab Kundu, from Heritage Academy, Kolkata was adjudged as the High Commendation with a cash prize of Rs. 3,000/-, trophy and certificate and Mr. Saksham Parik from Don Bosco School, Siliguri adjudged as the best speaker with a cash prize of Rs. 2,000/-, trophy and certificates. All the other participants were awarded with certificate of participation. The program concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Ganesh Ji Tiwari, Principal of Indian Institute of Legal Studies, Siliguri.
