The Indian Institute of Legal Studies (IILS), Cooch Behar, organized a field visit to the District Child Protection Unit in Coochbehar district. This initiative, conducted as part of the LL.B. Semester V curriculum for the subject Service Learning, aimed to provide students with a practical understanding of key environmental and social legislation, including the Environment Protection Act, Air Act, Water Act, Forest Act, Wildlife Protection Act, Persons with Disabilities Act, and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.

The primary focus of the visit was the Juvenile Justice Act. Students conducted a survey to understand the real-world application of this legislation and its impact on child protection. The interaction with the officials provided firsthand insights into the administrative and legal frameworks addressing the care, protection, and rehabilitation of children in conflict with the law and those in need of care and protection.
