What Is the Eligibility Criteria of a Law College in West Bengal?

Admission applications must be submitted in the prescribed form by the dates specified by the College authority for each academic session. The College Office sells Admission Forms with Prospectus.

Minimum eligibility criteria with regards to marks are as follows:

Higher Secondary or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50 percent (aggregate) marks in case of General Category applicants & 45 percent total marks in case of Schedule Caste & Schedule Tribes applicants applying for Five Year B. A., BBA, B. Com LL. B. (Hons.). Age should not be more than 20 years for general candidates and 22 years for Schedule Caste / Schedule Tribes / Other Backward Class candidates as of July 1st of the year of examination (subject to University of North Bengal and Bar Council of India norms). For Foreign National Students, there is no age restriction.

The minimal qualification for admission to the Three-Year LL. B. programme is a bachelor’s degree (10 + 2 + 3 pattern) examination with minimum 45 percent aggregate marks in the case of General Category applicants, 40 percent minimum marks in the case of Schedule Caste & Schedule Tribes applicants, and 42 percent minimum marks of the Other Backward Class candidates. Age should not be more than 30 years for general candidates and 35 years for Schedule Caste / Schedule Tribes / Other Backward Class candidates as of July 1st of the year of examination (subject to University of North Bengal and Bar Council of India norms). For Foreign National Students, there is no upper age limit.

Applicants may, however, appear in the College’s Entrance Test, which will be followed by counselling. Qualifying candidates must take admission within the specified dates, and the list of qualified candidates, together with the date of admission, will be posted on the College Notice Board. For the purpose of admission, shortlisted candidates must produce all original mark-sheets and testimonials to the College Office. Those who took the current year’s H. S. Examination / Degree Examination may also apply and, if selected, will be accepted provisionally. Their continuation is contingent on achieving the minimum marks required by the Bar Council of India.

SEATS RESERVATION

Seats still are reserved at the college in accordance with a government order. However, if the required number of candidates is not available against the reserve seats, the College Management reserves the discretionary right in this matter.
