Abstract: The students while they were getting themselves enrolled on various law programs after high school or their graduation, aspired to do a lot during the course but somehow after a point of time they found themselves all jumbled up and confused as to what they were supposed to priorities and what could be carried forward for a later time. Students in various law colleges all across the country like Cooch Behar Law College could face the same dilemma at any point in their academic lives.
Every student during enrolment in a new course goes through the pros and cons of choosing a career, filters all the possible prospects of working in a particular field, and finally chooses his goal as he enrolls in any academic degree course. Similar is the case with the students who enroll themselves on a law degree whether it is a five-year course or a three-year course. The students have various career options in their minds at this time like those of working as a practicing advocate in the Courts of Law, appearing for competitive examinations and qualifying as a Judicial Service Officer, moving ahead further to complete the Master’s Degree or Ph.D. and turning into an academician or working in the corporate sectors as a legal advisor- the list goes on.
During the initial days of college life, the students do not realise that the time which they think is going to be a long time will pass away in the blink of an eye. They need to realise the value of the time they find every day and utilize it daily most productively and appropriately. Efficiency in doing things is to know to do the right things at the right time. If the students start doing their bit day after day, one thing at a time, they will not be burdened with the pressure of ultimately doing things that they did not want to but are left with no choice as the saying goes- Losers cannot be choosers. The best way to not fall into such a situational trap is to set an early goal, be it whatever, and start working towards it sincerely. Making a plan and sorting the priorities at this crucial stage of life is the utmost need of law students in colleges like Cooch Behar Law College. If everything’s a priority, then nothing’s a priority. Taking classes regularly and attentively, doing the self-study, preparing self-explanatory notes, clearing the doubts with the teachers and faculties and most importantly, trying to complete a subject in the designated semester and not keeping a backlog with the subjects- these are the basic things a law student can inculcate in their schedules and see the magic happening. Nothing in this world is impossible, it is just how we take up things for us- as a task or as an enthusiasm.
