Independence is a relative term. 78th Independence day of India was celebrated on the auspicious day, in one of the best colleges for law in Cooch Behar district. Indian Institute of Legal Studies Cooch Behar is situated in the village Jagya Narayan Kuthi in very famous Pundibari area. Which is well connected with the nearby districts such as Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling etc. The day was started with flag hoisting followed by National anthem and speech by the Vice-principal madam. Then the day proceed with drawing and an indoor game competition. Mesmerizing cultural performances were there to celebrate this day at this institution. The active participation of 1 st semester students from B.A.LL.B. honours course made this programme a huge success. The whole programme was hoisted by a pair of students who were groomed by faculty members for this auspicious day. This will make the students more confident and to prepare themselves for the days when they will fight their legal battles as advocates.
But, one recent social issue is bothering everyone related to one’s independence, due to incident happed in the R.G.Kar Hospital. Keeping this scenario in view, one may ask question about women’s safety and independence in the society. Where it would not be anything wrong in this question. Wrong is in the values. Wrong is in the Socialization. Wrong is there, in the making of a human looking, into a true human being. Wrong is in the proper working of coercive forces which should have act as social controlling agent; then it would not have happened. The level of cruelty this incident showed, not only Kolkata; but, the whole nation got shocked once again after Nirbhaya incident. Incorporation of good values is very important. Without which this kind of incidents keep happening , which questions about the independence of women, who are half of the part of our society. Not only city of joy Kolkata, or only West Bengal, nor only India; but, foreign countries also shaken by this brutal news. If value was incorporated properly among the criminals, then the lady would not have seen such traumatized end of her dreams. Adding value to one’s character is mostly do e by family and school. It is clear that, there was some lacking in any of these agents of Socialization.
This day honourable guests were present who with their lectures gave motivation to the students, who are the future of India. Who have the future of this nation in their hands. The students should focus on building courage, confidence , commitment, and discipline in life so that, they can grow as a student, as a good human being, as an independent individual and as future legal professional. Their depth full motivational speech encouraged all who were present there. At the end of the programme it felt like, this should have continued for the whole day without any break. The day is celebrated every year like this in one of best colleges for law in this district.
